Greetings!
…and welcome to “Seeds from the Prairie,” our weekly blog! We hope “Seeds from the Prairie” enables you to take a weekly “mini-retreat” with us, and enjoy a little breath of the prairie wherever you may be. You may find these postings on our “new and improved” website, www.souloftheprairie.com, subscribe to them in the left sidebar, or sign up for an RSS feed. Our monthly e-zine, with information and ponderings about events at Soul of the Prairie will continue to arrive in your inbox.
In this season filled with potential and possibility, every cell of my being delights in dreams of abundant blooms, luscious fruit, and succulent veggies. My senses are alive with all I am soon to experience – the smells, the textures, the tastes, the sounds, the magnificence of God’s palette.
It is so hard for me to wait for this. I am like a child before Christmas, living mostly in anticipation of what is soon-to-be. And yet, my larger self knows that wait, I must. And trust, I must. And live, I must. Sometimes I forget the joy of living today, as I wait in anticipation of what is yet to come. Creation – and each of us - will burst forth in amazing, resurrected, abundant bloom. We know that in our deepest places. Yet, there is work to do and debris to clear and life to live fully and juicily EACH DAY as we blossom into the abundance of all we are.It is in this day-to-day, here-and-now dance with the world that we, and all of Creation, truly bloom. What a miracle life is!
We have enjoyed our first meal of fresh asparagus and are smiling as much as the plants in our new/old greenhouse! This greenhouse, created from mostly recycled materials, is attached to our “Feed House,” a former country school coal shed. Our seedlings (and us!) are growing and thriving under the warm sunlight of the season.
I am so excited about the “Spiritual Knitting Retreat” Sue Swanson is holding here May 9th! We’ll also be lighting the prairie labyrinth with candles that evening for our first “Moonlit Labyrinth Walk” of the season. Click here to go to our Calendar of Events, and more information about these and other events.
Please let us know what you think about the blog. We will highlight photos and a story of our prairie burn next week. No, we did NOT burn down the machine shed! Whew!
